Fierro (n.) Spanish for Iron; a strong, hard magnetic silvery-gray metal, the chemical element of atomic number 26, much used as a material for construction and manufacturing, especially in the form of steel.

When I decided to open my own consulting firm I knew it had to spark inspiration in people. I chose a name after the most influential person in my life, Hortencia Fierro, my mother. Like the hard metal excavated from the earth. My mother was forged and shaped into a sharp and strong women. A single mother to seven children, a survivor of violence and poverty. Through her obstacles, my mother was able to instill strong family values in her children.

Courage, Curiosity, and Compassion. 

My mother raised us to work hard and always participate in helping others. Her curiosity allowed her to explore different jobs and learn new techniques and talents. Her manual labor provided for our family. She thought us how to treat others with compassion and forgive those who caused harm. Fierro represents the outcome of being scared, tired and at times, hopeless. Fierro, allows participants to draws strength from their raw talents and work towards exploring ones true self. 

My mother is my hero. I strive to serve my community and proved a non-judgmental atmosphere that allows room for compassion, forgiveness and growth. My mother instilled her values into my siblings and I. We were forged in challenging times. We become leaders and healers for our communities. Together we can forge a new path towards liberation and happiness.
